AVOW Advocating the Vocation of Women

Endow Study Groups
AVOW is currently using a study curriculum produced by ENDOW. We are offering study groups for Letter to Women, and for those who have completed Letter, we are now offering Mulieris Dignitatum (On the Dignity and Vocation of Women). ENDOW (Educating on the Nature and Dignity of Women) is an educational organization that provides women with a forum through which to explore and understand what it means to be a feminine person created in God's image. As a basis for discovery, ENDOW promotes the New Feminism, which is defined by Pope John Paul II. The New Feminism recognizes and affirms the "true genius of women" and responds to our culture's desperate need for an authentic feminine presence in every aspect of life and society.

Pure Fashion
The March 2008 Breakfast that AVOW is hosting is featuring speaker Brenda Sharman. Brenda speaks on the Beauty of Virtue to groups of all ages, but she also has an exciting connection to an impressive program for teenage girls. Her insight into the world of fashion and advertising has helped to establish the Pure Fashion program as a fun and effective program which helps young women realize their inherent dignity and cultivates in them a desire to live, act and dress in accordance with that dignity.

The Thrill of the Chaste
Speaker and author Dawn Eden presented a talk based on her book "The Thrill of the Chaste" at AVOW's November 2007 Breakfast. At the time she wrote The Thrill of the Chaste, Dawn Eden worked in the New York City newspaper world as deputy news editor at the New York Daily News and, before that, as a copy editor and headline writer for the New York Post. Michael Potemra of the National Review had this to say about her book, “An intelligent, culturally aware, and (not least important) highly entertaining account of how one woman was able to break free of a culture of sexual objectification...Dawn Eden reminds us forcefully that our happiness does not, in fact, lie in the cycle of sexual gratifications, or in being a "winner" in the manhunting/ womanhunting game; it consists of a life of love and respect for others, whether one is married or single.”
